Prelims Strategy

Coded Relations requires a systematic preparation approach focusing on pattern recognition mastery and time management optimization. Begin with understanding the six main coding types: symbolic, letter, number, mixed, conditional, and reverse coding.

Create a personal reference system for common symbols and patterns encountered in practice. Develop the DECODE method as a standard approach: Decode pattern, Establish relationships, Check consistency, Organize information, Deduce answer, Eliminate options.

Practice with increasing complexity levels, starting with simple symbolic coding and progressing to complex conditional systems. Time management is crucial - allocate 30-45 seconds for understanding the coding system and 60-90 seconds per question.

Focus on accuracy over speed initially, as wrong answers in question sets are costly. Memorize common relationship symbols and their typical meanings. Practice elimination techniques for difficult questions where complete solving may be time-prohibitive.

Regular mock tests help build confidence and identify weak coding patterns. Maintain a practice log noting difficult patterns and common mistakes for targeted revision.
