Numerical pattern mastery requires systematic preparation focusing on pattern type identification, formula memorization, and rapid calculation techniques. Memorize perfect squares up to 25² (625) and perfect cubes up to 10³ (1000) for instant recognition.

Practice the PAGES identification framework: Pattern type analysis (15 seconds), Addition-based relationships (arithmetic progressions), Geometric relationships (ratios and exponential growth), Exponential functions (squares, cubes, factorials), and Special sequences (Fibonacci, primes, alternating).

Develop mental math shortcuts for common calculations—multiplication tables through 20, quick difference calculations, and ratio approximations for large numbers. Time allocation should be 45-60 seconds per pattern question, with elimination strategies if direct solving exceeds this limit.

Common traps include confusing arithmetic and geometric progressions, misidentifying second-order patterns, and calculation errors under time pressure. Practice with mixed pattern sets to build rapid recognition skills and avoid over-reliance on single pattern types.

Focus on accuracy over speed initially, then gradually increase solving pace through timed practice sessions.
