Work Efficiency — Mains Strategy

Mains Strategy

This is written quantitative reasoning practice, not a descriptive CSAT examination section. Introduce the solution by defining the total job and the unit of time. State any constant-rate or independent-contribution assumption supplied by the problem. A short rate table then makes the calculation reproducible.

In the body, separate intervals when the working arrangement changes. For each interval, show the workers present, their combined rate, the duration and the work completed. Subtract completed work from the total before applying a later rate. If the question concerns relative efficiency, explain why the rate ratio must be inverted to compare completion times for the same job.

Conclude with the requested quantity and units, distinguishing additional time from total elapsed time. Include a reasonableness check using an individual completion time or the total accumulated work. Where the net rate is non-positive, state why completion is impossible under the given arrangement. This explanation is more useful than presenting an isolated formula whose assumptions are hidden.
