Definition

Spatial reasoning is the ability to infer positions, directions and relationships from a description or representation of space. It includes tracking routes, turns, rotations, reflections and the visible faces of solids.

A successful solution fixes a reference frame, distinguishes movement from a change in facing, and preserves the labels attached to an object. It also checks whether the given information determines a unique result.

A diagram helps organise the clues, but an unscaled drawing cannot supply a missing distance. The aim is to establish what follows from the stated geometry rather than from visual familiarity or an unstated convention.
