Cube Folding — Revision Notes

Updated 19 Oct 2026

⚡ 30-Second Revision

Six squares are necessary, not sufficient. Fix a reference face; fold by right angles; require six distinct positions. For A–B–C–D with E above B and F below B: opposites A–C, B–D, E–F.

2-Minute Revision

Flat separation is not opposition: A and D meet at the seam of the example net. A corner cannot contain an opposite pair. For ordered top-front-right views, check cyclic order as well as opposite pairs; a mirror reversal is not necessarily a rotation. A 2 × 3 rectangle has the right area but fails the folding geometry.

5-Minute Revision

Map the example net with B front and E top, then test A–B–E and A–C–E as corner sets. Explain why the first works and the second fails. Rotate the completed cube mentally and confirm that opposite pairs stay fixed. Finish by explaining why matching those pairs does not by itself settle a fully labelled mirror comparison.

Vyyuha Quick Recall

Reference → folds → six positions → opposite pairs → orientation.
