Situation Analysis — Prelims Strategy
Prelims Strategy
For CSAT Situation Analysis questions, a systematic approach is non-negotiable. Vyyuha's strategy begins with Active Reading: carefully read the entire scenario, identifying keywords, constraints (time, resources, information), and the core dilemma.
Next, Identify Stakeholders: quickly list all individuals or groups affected by or involved in the situation. This helps in understanding diverse perspectives. Then, Pinpoint the Core Problem: distinguish between symptoms and root causes.
What *truly* needs to be addressed?
Once the problem is clear, Scan Alternatives: quickly review the given options. For each option, mentally (or quickly jot down) its immediate and long-term consequences – both positive and negative.
Critically evaluate each option against administrative principles, ethical considerations, public welfare, and feasibility. Eliminate obviously incorrect or unethical options. The 'best' answer is usually the one that is most comprehensive, ethical, practical, and addresses the root cause while minimizing negative impacts.
Remember, CSAT often presents options that are partially correct or tempting; your job is to find the *most* appropriate one. Practice with a timer to build speed and accuracy, internalizing the Vyyuha SPACE Method for rapid application.
