Mughal paintings represent one of India's most sophisticated artistic traditions, emerging during the Mughal Empire from the 16th to 18th centuries. These miniature paintings are characterized by their exquisite detail, vibrant colors, and unique blend of Persian, Indian, and European influences.

Unlike other Indian painting traditions, Mughal art was primarily court-sponsored and served as a powerful tool for imperial documentation and cultural expression. The paintings typically feature themes ranging from court scenes and royal portraits to hunting expeditions, religious narratives, and natural history studies.
