Prelims Strategy
Attach a precise event to each date: 1604—Adi Granth compilation and installation; 1699—Khalsa; 1708—Guru Granth Sahib as eternal Guru. Matching questions often exchange the dates while retaining familiar names. Test the complete statement rather than recognising one correct word.
Keep the practices distinct. Sangat is the congregation, langar the communal meal and kirtan devotional singing. A statement about equality may be relevant to more than one institution, but it does not make the terms synonyms. Likewise, the inclusion of Kabir or Baba Farid in scripture should not be confused with their being Sikh Gurus.
For the Khalsa, connect Guru Gobind Singh with initiation and collective discipline. Do not substitute Guru Arjan merely because his name is associated with an earlier institutional milestone.
Finally, distinguish doctrinal or ethical claims from empirical assertions. A practice expressing equality is not evidence that every historical participant experienced identical social conditions. Questions using a sweeping claim about society require a different kind of evidence from questions naming an institution.
