⚡ 30-Second Revision

  • Bohag/Rongali: spring and New Year.
  • Magh/Bhogali: post-harvest feast.
  • Kati/Kongali: restraint and crop prayers.
  • Onam: Kerala/Chingam; Pongal: Tamil/Thai.
  • Hornbill began 2000; traditions have separate histories.

2-Minute Revision

Regional festivals connect places with seasonal and social life, but they are not uniform identity labels. Compare each festival’s region, calendar, purpose and practices. Older meanings can continue among people with changed occupations or in migrant settings. Modern curated events can present inherited traditions, so the event’s age and the traditions’ ages must be kept distinct.

5-Minute Revision

Construct a matrix for Bohag, Magh, Kati, Onam, Pongal and Hornbill. Give the season or calendar, principal association and one qualification for each. Then write a paragraph explaining why an urban migrant celebration can sustain cultural connections without reproducing every practice found in the associated region.
