For Prelims preparation, focus on memorizing key facts: NSQF levels (1-10), major schemes (PM-DAKSH, PMKVY), institutional framework (SSCs, NSDC, assessment agencies), and recent policy developments. Pay special attention to numerical data like NEP 2020's 40% credit acceptance provision, number of SSCs (37), and RPL coverage statistics.

Common traps include confusing RPL with regular skill training, misunderstanding geographic validity of certificates, and mixing up roles of different institutions. Use elimination techniques by understanding that RPL recognizes existing skills (not new training), has national validity (not state-specific), and includes informal learning (not just formal apprenticeships).

Create mental maps linking RPL to broader themes like employment generation, social justice, and educational reforms. Practice questions that combine RPL with related topics like NSQF, VET, and Skill India Mission.
