PM E-DRIVE segment tables amended in March
2026-03-27S.O. 1617(E) changed the scheme’s electric two-wheeler and electric rickshaw/cart provisions. Its two-wheeler table then extended through 31 July 2026. That historical date was subsequently revised by the August notification; it is not the current terminal date.
UPSC Angle: Use the amendment sequence to distinguish scheme duration, vehicle-category windows and incentive conditions. Evaluate whether targeted support reduces an adoption barrier without treating the notification as measured sales or emissions reduction.
August notification increases PM E-DRIVE outlay and revises its duration
2026-08-10S.O. 4424(E) set out a ₹11,900 crore fund-limited scheme ending on 31 March 2028 and revised electric two-wheeler support. It also retained the earlier L5 three-wheeler closure. An announced allocation and conditional incentive are policy inputs, not evidence of disbursement or environmental impact.
UPSC Angle: Compare purchase incentives with charging access, grid emissions, battery sourcing and end-of-life management. Explain why a budget ceiling, eligible claim, actual payment and additional EV adoption are different measures.
