Land Resources — Prelims Strategy
Prelims Strategy
For Prelims, the strategy for Land Resources (ENV-05-05) must be fact-intensive and geographically precise. Focus on memorizing the characteristics and distribution of major soil types in India (Alluvial, Black, Red, Laterite, Desert, Mountain soils), including their nutrient composition and suitable crops.
Use maps extensively for visual recall. Understand the key features and differences between the Land Acquisition Act, 1894, and the LARR Act, 2013, particularly the percentages for consent and compensation multipliers.
Similarly, know the core provisions of the Forest Rights Act, 2006 (IFR, CFR, Gram Sabha's role). Be familiar with the various land degradation processes (erosion, salinization, waterlogging, desertification) and their primary causes and effects.
Government schemes related to land and soil, such as the Soil Health Card Scheme and DILRMP, are crucial. Pay attention to constitutional articles like 39, 48A, and 51A(g) and their specific mandates.
Practice MCQs that test factual recall, matching pairs (soil type-region, scheme-objective), and identifying correct/incorrect statements about legal provisions. Vyyuha advises creating flashcards for key terms, definitions, and legislative details to ensure quick and accurate recall under exam pressure.
