Doha Amendment to the Kyoto Protocol	2012	The Doha Amendment established the second commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol, running from January 1, 2013, to December 31, 2020. It also included a revised list of greenhouse gases to be reported by Parties and amended several articles of the Protocol.	While it provided continuity for the Kyoto Protocol's framework, participation in the second commitment period was significantly lower than the first. Major emitters like Canada withdrew, and others like Japan, Russia, and New Zealand did not take on new targets. This reduced participation highlighted the Protocol's diminishing effectiveness and paved the way for the negotiation of a new, more inclusive agreement, the Paris Agreement.
