Mother Teresa — Prelims Strategy
Prelims Strategy
Match dates to events carefully: the founding of the Missionaries of Charity, the establishment of a hospice and the Nobel award are separate milestones. A correct year attached to the wrong event is still a factual error. Avoid relying on an attractive quotation unless its wording and attribution have been checked against a reliable source.
In ethical application questions, distinguish pity, compassion and respect for dignity. A helpful action can still be paternalistic if it ignores the recipient's preferences or exposes personal details unnecessarily. Recognition of a public figure does not eliminate the need to assess specific practices through evidence and appropriate standards.
For choices involving charity and rights, reject the false assumption that one must cancel the other. Immediate support can accompany correction of an entitlement failure. Select the option that identifies the actual need, a suitable response and a fair process. The questions are conceptual GS IV revision exercises, not claimed past-paper items or evidence of a separate Ethics Preliminary Examination paper.
