Case Studies on Ethics — Revision Notes
⚡ 30-Second Revision
Reviewed 17 October 2026.
- State the decision before listing values.
- Separate facts, allegations and assumptions.
- Compare feasible options and test the preferred one.
- Sequence action, communication and review within authority.
2-Minute Revision
Begin with the decision required, established facts and material uncertainties. Identify whose rights, needs or responsibilities are affected, then specify the competing claims. Options must be concrete actions with an actor and an authority; “be ethical” and “be compassionate” are orientations, not distinct options.
Compare feasibility, rights, likely effects and distribution of burdens under the stated time and resource limits. Treat an unstated emergency power as something to verify, not a fact to invent. Explain the chosen sequence and its residual risks.
Finish with implementation, communication and review. A useful answer makes clear what happens next and how an error would be corrected, instead of ending after a list of values.
5-Minute Revision
Retrieval exercise
Take an original shelter-safety case with a preliminary report and an opening deadline. Write three feasible options, then identify the strongest objection to the preferred one. Specify immediate protection, technical verification, the competent decision and what would change the plan.
