Muhammad Ghori — Prelims Strategy
Prelims Strategy
Memorise the sequence as 1186 Lahore, 1191 first Tarain defeat for Ghori, 1192 second Tarain victory, 1194 Chandawar and 1206 succession. Practise recalling the opponent as well as the date. A question can retain three familiar details while moving one into the wrong row.
Separate Muhammad Ghori from Mahmud of Ghazni. Similar names and their association with the north-west do not make their campaigns contemporary. Keep Aibak's work as commander distinct from his later independent rule. An option calling Ghori the first Mamluk sultan in 1206 is wrong because it combines the conqueror with the successor's position.
Use a map for strategic sequence, but do not infer uniform control from a battle marker. Victory at Tarain did not instantly remove every other regional power. For explanation questions, prefer a specified mechanism—bases, organisation or alliances—to a claim about an inherent community trait. Treat precise troop totals and embellished personal episodes as details requiring stronger evidence than a familiar textbook chronology.
