Prelims Strategy

Build a five-language comparison using Bodo, Manipuri, Garo, Khasi and Assamese. Enter the family assigned by the cited Census table and keep constitutional status in a separate column. The North-Eastern location of all these examples should not lead you to assign them to one family.

Check the scope of numbers. A count in Statement 9 describes the publication’s classified languages and reference year. It does not enumerate every raw mother-tongue return or every language worldwide. If an option removes the date or expands the geography, the inference needs additional support.

For amendment questions, distinguish the Act’s title year from its effective date. Manipuri belongs to the 71st Amendment Act, 1992; Bodo to the 92nd Amendment Act, 2003, effective in January 2004. Finally, separate script and language: a change in orthography is evidence about writing practice, not automatic proof of a different family or constitutional status.

Test each claim against the type of evidence required, especially where a distractor combines a correct regional association with an incorrect classification.
