Cultural Festivals — Revision Notes

Updated 19 Oct 2026

⚡ 30-Second Revision

  • Event, venue and tradition have different timelines.
  • Hornbill: 2000; Khajuraho Dance Festival: 1975.
  • Excerpt needs context and practitioner involvement.
  • Visibility ≠ transmission; spending ≠ profit.
  • Evaluate objectives, representation, access and continuity.

2-Minute Revision

A cultural festival selects and interprets expression for audiences. Its value depends on how it represents practitioners, supports access and contributes to continuing activity. Modern events can present older traditions, while a heritage venue does not automatically confer a separate designation on each performance. Use indicators matched to the purpose and explain what economic or attendance figures actually measure.

5-Minute Revision

Compare two hypothetical proposals with the same budget: a large stage event and a smaller programme combining interpretation, accessible facilities and paid workshops. Set three objectives, select an indicator for each and explain one trade-off. Do not assign a winner until the objectives and likely outcomes are stated.
