Constitutional Framework — Mains Strategy

Mains Strategy

Start with the constitutional relationship at issue. For a question about institutional balance, identify the power, its purpose and the body accountable for exercising it. For rights and welfare, distinguish enforceable protection from policy direction while explaining how both influence governance.

Structure the body around authority, limits and remedies. Use a small number of relevant provisions and explain their effect. A legislative power may require a particular procedure; an executive decision may need to remain within the law; an affected person may have access to judicial review. This sequence is clearer than a catalogue of constitutional features.

Recognise the tension in the question, such as coordination versus autonomy or flexibility versus restraint. Show how the constitutional arrangement manages that tension and where implementation creates difficulty.

Conclude with accountable use of power within the governing framework. A strong answer neither treats institutions as isolated compartments nor assumes that a desirable policy objective removes procedural and rights-based constraints.

Explain the mechanism through which the constitutional promise becomes a reviewable public decision.
