The Line of Control (LoC) is a military control line that separates Indian-administered Kashmir from Pakistani-administered Kashmir. Think of it as a heavily fortified boundary that runs for about 740 kilometers through some of the world's most challenging terrain, from snow-capped mountains in the north to plains in the south.

Unlike an international border, the LoC is not a legally recognized boundary but rather a ceasefire line that emerged from the 1947-48 war between India and Pakistan over Kashmir. The LoC represents one of the most militarized borders in the world, with hundreds of thousands of troops stationed on both sides.
