The Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) is India's premier external intelligence agency, established in 1968 to gather intelligence beyond the country's borders and protect national security interests. Think of RAW as India's equivalent to the CIA in the United States or MI6 in the United Kingdom.

While the Intelligence Bureau (IB) handles internal security matters within India, RAW focuses exclusively on external threats and intelligence gathering from foreign countries.
