Intelligence sharing refers to the systematic exchange of security-related information between different intelligence agencies, law enforcement bodies, and government departments to enhance national security and counter-terrorism capabilities.

In the Indian context, this involves coordination between multiple agencies including the Intelligence Bureau (IB), Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), National Technical Research Organisation (NTRO), and various state police forces.

The concept gained critical importance after the 26/11 Mumbai attacks exposed severe gaps in inter-agency coordination. Intelligence sharing encompasses both domestic coordination (between central and state agencies) and international cooperation (bilateral and multilateral agreements with foreign intelligence services).

The Multi-Agency Centre (MAC) serves as the primary fusion center for counter-terrorism intelligence, while the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS) provides strategic oversight. Key challenges include institutional turf wars, technological incompatibility, legal constraints, and the federal structure's complexity.

The sharing process involves collection, analysis, dissemination, and actionable intelligence conversion. Modern intelligence sharing increasingly relies on digital platforms like NATGRID (National Intelligence Grid) and CCTNS (Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems) for real-time data exchange.
