⚡ 30-Second Revision
- Checked 18 October 2026.
- - 1947: Partition is a major historical context, not a basis for inherited collective guilt.
- 1976: Forty-second Amendment adds secular to the Preamble.
- Mechanism: homogeneous interests → hostile boundary → unequal-power claim.
- Rights: Articles 14, 15 and 25; remember Article 25 qualifications.
2-Minute Revision
Communalism makes religion an overriding political boundary and suppresses internal diversity. It can operate through stereotypes and exclusion before a riot occurs. Religious practice and demands for equal protection do not by themselves establish communalism.
Diagnose the claim, examine evidence of conduct, and avoid collective blame. Constitutional equality and religious freedom work together. The Preamble wording changed in 1976, while the rights framework already existed.
Match administrative action to prevention, immediate protection and longer-term repair.
5-Minute Revision
Take a hypothetical dispute over a municipal water connection. Write one legitimate grievance about service allocation and one communal claim about the same dispute. Underline what changes in the reasoning. Then list one preventive measure, one immediate protection measure and one repair measure. Check that each targets an identified failure and does not presume guilt from religious membership. Finally explain in two sentences why a zero-riot count does not prove the absence of exclusion.
Vyyuha Quick Recall
HIDE identifies the communal mechanism: Homogenised interests, Incompatible-group claims, Domination, Exclusion. PPR orders the response: Prevention, Protection, Repair.
