Child Helplines — Revision Notes

Updated 19 Oct 2026

⚡ 30-Second Revision

1098 → coordinated response → competent care decision → follow-up. An answered call is not a completed rehabilitation outcome. A possible database match needs verification.

2-Minute Revision

Child Helpline 1098 under Mission Vatsalya is integrated with ERSS-112. The 2023 transition and 2026 updates describe institutional development rather than a new annual launch. CWC care-and-protection decisions remain distinct from outreach and emergency response. Evaluate contact, referral and continuing care separately. Digital integration can improve leads, but neither a database match nor a forwarded report proves verified identity or durable safety.

5-Minute Revision

Map a hypothetical report from receipt to contact, response, competent decision and follow-up. For 120 reports, 90 contacts and 60 verified referrals, calculate the contact rate, completion among all reports and completion among contacted cases. Then propose two different explanations for a fall in calls and identify evidence that would help distinguish them.

Reach, respond, refer, review: follow the child-protection process beyond the call.
