Every point on a wavefront is a source of secondary wavelets: — Think of it like this: if you have a line of people holding hands (that's your wavefront), and each person suddenly throws a small pebble into the water right in front of them, each pebble creates its own tiny ripple. These tiny ripples are the 'secondary wavelets'.

The new wavefront is the envelope of these secondary wavelets: — After a short time, all those tiny ripples expand a little. If you draw a line that just touches the outermost edge of all these tiny ripples, that line forms the 'new' wavefront. It's like drawing a tangent to all the small circles. This new line shows you where the original wavefront has moved to.
