Prelims Strategy

To effectively tackle NEET questions on Logic Gates, a systematic approach is crucial. Firstly, memorize the symbols and truth tables for all basic (AND, OR, NOT), universal (NAND, NOR), and derived (XOR, XNOR) gates.

This is non-negotiable, as many questions directly test this recall. For combination circuits, always trace the inputs step-by-step from the initial gates to the final output. Write down the intermediate outputs at each stage to avoid errors.

For questions involving Boolean expressions, practice applying Boolean algebra postulates and De Morgan's theorems diligently. Remember that Aˉ=A\overline{\bar{A}} = A is a common simplification. When dealing with universal gates, understand the logic behind constructing NOT, AND, and OR gates using only NAND or only NOR gates.

Draw these configurations multiple times. Pay close attention to the wording of questions, especially terms like 'only when all inputs are 1' (AND) versus 'if any input is 1' (OR). Trap options often involve mixing up truth table entries or misapplying De Morgan's theorems.

For numerical problems (though rare), ensure correct substitution of 0s and 1s. Time management is key; these questions should be solved quickly and accurately to save time for more complex problems.
