⚡ 30-Second Revision
- - 1775–1782: first war
- Salbai settlement.
- 1802: Bassein makes British support central to the Peshwa.
- 1803–1805: second war.
- 1817–1818: third war
- Peshwaship ends.
2-Minute Revision
Separate the Peshwa from the chiefs and formal survival from sovereignty. Bassein changed the wider political balance, not merely one ruler's personal circumstances. Rivalry mattered through coordination and separate agreements. The final outcome combined direct expansion with subordinate princely survival.
5-Minute Revision
Write one causal sentence for each war without listing more than one battle. Then explain how the first war challenges an inevitable-victory argument. On a sketch map, use different symbols for direct territory and dependent states rather than treating both as identical.
