For Prelims preparation on NHRC, focus on memorizing key facts: establishment year (1993), composition (CJI as Chairperson, 4 members), tenure (5 years), and headquarters (New Delhi). Master the limitations - cannot investigate private parties, armed forces in disturbed areas, matters pending in courts, and one-year complaint period.

Remember the 2006 and 2019 amendments distinctly - 2006 expanded definition to include ESC rights and increased tenure, while 2019 extended jurisdiction to UTs and enhanced inclusivity. Practice elimination techniques by understanding common traps: confusing NHRC with SHRC powers, mixing up amendment years, and assuming binding nature of recommendations.
