India's approach to development partnership with Afghanistan is rooted in the principle of 'Afghan-led and Afghan-owned' development, meaning that all assistance is provided based on Afghanistan's priorities and implemented through Afghan institutions wherever possible.
The partnership covers multiple sectors including infrastructure development, education, healthcare, agriculture, governance, and capacity building. Unlike conditional aid programs, India's development assistance focuses on creating sustainable development outcomes while building long-term strategic relationships.
