Prelims Strategy

Start with the issue: education, hazardous work, care and protection or protection from sexual offences. Then identify the relevant age rule. Article 21A's six-to-fourteen range does not define childhood for every statute. A seventeen-year-old can remain a child under JJ or POCSO law and an adolescent under labour law.

Map the Eighty-sixth Amendment's changes by constitutional category. Article 21A is a Fundamental Right; Article 45 is a Directive Principle; Article 51A(k) is a Fundamental Duty. Moving all three into Part III would be an error even though they concern related educational responsibilities. Keep the amendment's 2002 date separate from the RTE Act's 2009 date.

For disability-related education, section 31's six-to-eighteen protection applies to the specified benchmark category. It supplements rather than changes the constitutional age wording. In scenarios, overlapping protection is possible; choosing one applicable provision does not prove that other needs or laws are irrelevant. Check the precise question before selecting a single age or institution.
