Wealth Concentration — Revision Notes

Updated 19 Oct 2026

⚡ 30-Second Revision

  • Net wealth = assets − liabilities within a stated boundary.
  • House 100 − debt 70 = 30; house 120 − debt 70 = 50.
  • 40/100 = 50/125 = 40%.
  • Wealth share ≠ income share ≠ Gini.
  • Wealth ≠ immediate liquidity.

2-Minute Revision

Wealth concentration is a distribution of balance-sheet stocks. Revaluation and debt can change net positions without a matching income flow. Read top shares through both numerator and denominator, and retain research methods and dates. Liquidity and negative net wealth require additional care in interpretation.

5-Minute Revision

Calculate net wealth for the house-and-mortgage example. Then compare 40/100, 50/125 and 40/80 as top shares. Explain which changes involve higher absolute holdings and which can arise from the denominator alone. Add one reason a positive wealth position may not meet an immediate payment.

Vyyuha Quick Recall

Assets minus debts; share needs both sides.
