National Literacy Mission — Revision Notes

⚡ 30-Second Revision

1988: National Literacy Mission. ULLAS: fifteen-plus, 2022–23 to 2026–27. Registration, assessment success and population literacy are different measures.

2-Minute Revision

Adult literacy combines foundational skills with meaningful application. ULLAS includes foundational literacy and numeracy, critical life skills, basic education, vocational skills and continuing education. Volunteerism and hybrid delivery can support access, but learning requires evidence. The historical 15–35 focus is not a current upper-age limit. NIPUN's school context is distinct. Check the population and denominator before interpreting a programme's results.

5-Minute Revision

For 1,000 registered learners, 800 assessed and 600 meeting the standard, calculate participation, success among assessed and achievement among registered. Design one task that tests copying and another that tests practical comprehension of an unfamiliar bill. Explain why neither the cohort's pass rate nor the number of app registrations can automatically establish a district population literacy rate.

Vyyuha Quick Recall

Access, learn, assess, apply: follow literacy beyond registration and certification.
