While the CLRA itself remains largely unamended, its provisions are expected to be subsumed and potentially modified by the new Labour Codes. Impact of Labour Codes (2019-2020)	2019-2020	The four Labour Codes – the Code on Wages, 2019; the Industrial Relations Code, 2020; the Code on Social Security, 2020; and the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020 – are designed to consolidate and simplify 29 existing central labour laws, including the CLRA. These codes aim to create a more uniform and flexible labour market.	The new codes will significantly affect contract labour regulation. The OSHWC Code, for instance, consolidates welfare provisions for all workers, including contract labour. The Code on Social Security extends benefits to gig and platform workers, a segment often operating under contract-like arrangements. The Industrial Relations Code introduces fixed-term employment with parity in wages and benefits, which could impact the preference for contract labour. The codes aim to streamline compliance but also raise questions about the dilution of certain protections and the clarity of abolition provisions, especially concerning the 'appropriate government' for prohibition orders.
