Act 24 of 2019	2019	The Right to Information (Amendment) Act, 2019 amended sections 13, 16 and 27 of the 2005 Act. The fixed five-year term wording for Central and State Information Commissioners was replaced with terms to be prescribed by the Central Government. Salaries, allowances and other service conditions were likewise made subject to Central Government prescription. The Act retained protection against disadvantageous changes after appointment and preserved the earlier framework for commissioners appointed before its commencement.	The amendment shifted important service conditions from the parent statute to delegated rules, including for State Information Commissions. This matters to the design and perceived independence of the institutions hearing transparency disputes. It did not itself specify the duration that every later set of rules must choose. Distinguish the amending Act, rules made under it, and the substantive exemptions governing an individual information request.
Act 22 of 2023	2023	Section 44(3) of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 substituted clause (j) of RTI section 8(1) with a clause covering information relating to personal information. The Central Government’s G.S.R. 843(E) notification dated 13 November 2025 brought section 44(3) into force on publication. The enactment year is 2023; this particular amendment’s commencement belongs to the 2025 notification, not to the later commencement dates assigned to other DPDP provisions.	Older judgments interpreting the former wording of the personal-information clause must be read with that statutory change. The new wording does not reproduce the former clause’s public-activity and unwarranted-invasion language. This is a change to an RTI exemption through another Act; it is not merely a data-protection rule. It does not, by itself, decide every request: the operative RTI framework and the precise information sought still require examination.
