Prelims Strategy

Build a compact institutional chart, separating Patron-in-Chief, Executive Chairman and local chairmanship. At the national level the Chief Justice of India is Patron-in-Chief, not Executive Chairman. At district level the District Judge chairs the authority. Read the amended taluk provision carefully rather than relying on an older designation reproduced in notes.

Practise eligibility questions by asking which section 12 category supplies the route and whether the section 13 prima facie requirement has been addressed. Avoid importing a universal income condition into categories that the Act lists separately. Memorising an old figure without checking the governing notification is less useful than understanding this structure.

For Lok Adalat questions, mark three things before examining the options: ordinary or Permanent, pending case or pre-litigation application, and settlement or adjudication. The word “award” does not mean the ordinary forum can decide contested merits.

Failed conciliation does not automatically convert one forum into another. Keep statutory finality and absence of appeal distinct from the narrower constitutional review question. In data questions, specify the denominator and the service stage before calculating coverage.
