Prelims Strategy

To excel in NEET questions on Reproductive Health Problems and Strategies, a multi-pronged strategy is essential. Firstly, master the definitions and full forms of all key terms like RCH, MTP, IVF, ZIFT, GIFT, ICSI, and AI.

Secondly, create detailed tables for contraceptive methods, including their mechanism of action, effectiveness, advantages, disadvantages, and whether they offer STD protection. Pay special attention to the differences between hormonal and non-hormonal, temporary and permanent methods.

Thirdly, for Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs), prepare a comprehensive list covering the disease name, causative agent (bacterium, virus, protozoan), common symptoms, and whether it is curable or manageable.

Focus on differentiating between bacterial and viral STDs. Fourthly, for Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ARTs), understand the precise procedure for each (e.g., where fertilization occurs, what is transferred, and where) and the specific conditions under which each ART is recommended.

Finally, be familiar with the key provisions of the MTP Act, especially regarding gestational limits and the requirement for medical opinions. When solving MCQs, read the question carefully, identify keywords (e.

g., 'non-hormonal', 'zygote transfer'), and systematically eliminate incorrect options. For application-based questions, visualize the scenario and apply your knowledge of mechanisms to deduce the most appropriate solution.

Be wary of options that sound plausible but contain subtle inaccuracies, especially regarding numbers or specific details.
