Immunity — Prelims Strategy
Prelims Strategy
To excel in NEET questions on Immunity, a multi-pronged strategy is essential. Firstly, focus on clearly distinguishing between Innate and Acquired Immunity, memorizing their respective components, mechanisms, and key characteristics (specificity, memory).
Create flowcharts or tables to differentiate between active vs. passive and natural vs. artificial acquired immunity, along with concrete examples for each. Pay close attention to the specific roles of different immune cells (B cells, T cells - Helper, Cytotoxic, Regulatory, NK cells, macrophages, neutrophils) and soluble factors (antibodies, cytokines, complement proteins).
Understand the structure and function of different antibody classes (IgG, IgA, IgM, IgE, IgD). For numerical or application-based questions, ensure you can apply the principles of vaccination and immunodeficiency.
Practice identifying trap options, which often involve confusing similar-sounding terms (e.g., antibiotics vs. antibodies) or misattributing functions to incorrect immune components. Regular revision of key terms and their precise definitions is paramount, as many questions are direct recall based.
