To excel in NEET questions on the chemical properties of benzene, a systematic approach is essential. First, thoroughly understand the concept of aromaticity and why benzene undergoes substitution rather than addition.

Memorize the specific reagents and catalysts required for each major EAS reaction (nitration, halogenation, sulfonation, Friedel-Crafts alkylation, and acylation), along with the electrophile generated in each case.

Pay close attention to reaction conditions like temperature. For questions involving substituted benzenes, accurately identify whether the existing substituent is activating or deactivating, and whether it is ortho-para or meta directing.

Remember the exception of halogens (deactivating but ortho-para directing). When predicting products, consider steric hindrance for ortho positions. For numerical problems (less common but possible for yield calculations), ensure you understand stoichiometry.

Be mindful of common traps, such as confusing Friedel-Crafts alkylation and acylation limitations (polyalkylation and rearrangements in alkylation, absence in acylation). Practice identifying the correct electrophile for each reaction.

Use flashcards for reagents, electrophiles, and directing effects. For conceptual questions, focus on the 'why' behind the reactivity and regioselectivity.
