UPSC Importance Analysis

Factual comprehension belongs to the reading work required for the Civil Services Preliminary General Studies Paper II. Its preparation value lies in accuracy under time pressure: a candidate must distinguish the writer's actual claim from familiar background information. The official 2026 examination page provides the General Studies Paper II question paper; this lesson's examples are newly written exercises, not attributed previous-year questions.

The most useful practice target is scope control. An option can retain the topic and vocabulary while changing a trial into a permanent programme or a sample into an entire population. Learning to detect that change also improves the handling of statement-based questions elsewhere in the examination.

Use an error log with separate categories for misread negation, wrong reference sentence, altered quantity and unsupported inference. A correct answer reached through a guessed fact should still be reviewed. Preparation should build the habit of pointing to textual evidence, rather than merely recognising the subject of the passage. No topic-specific frequency or guaranteed question count is assumed here.
