Cube Folding — Definition

Definition

Cube folding is the reconstruction of a three-dimensional cube from six connected squares laid flat as a net. A valid net must fold so that each square occupies one distinct face, without overlap or inconsistent placement.

Squares sharing an edge in the net remain adjacent, while some separated squares become neighbours when the boundary closes. Questions may ask for opposite faces, a possible corner view or whether two labelled arrangements match by rotation.

The key is to track orientation from a chosen reference face rather than judge relationships from distances in the flat drawing.
