National Cultural Policy — Definition

Updated 19 Oct 2026

Definition

National cultural policy is a framework for deciding public objectives, responsibilities and instruments relating to cultural life and heritage. It can concern conservation, artistic creation, languages, living traditions, education and access.

The term must be used with documentary precision: a proposal or committee recommendation is not automatically an adopted policy. A parliamentary report presented in March 2023 recorded policy development and offered recommendations.

That dated record supports analysis of the process and proposed principles, while any claim of later adoption requires separate authoritative evidence.
