Anti-Poverty Programs — Revision Notes

Updated 19 Oct 2026

⚡ 30-Second Revision

  • June 2011: DAY-NRLM launch; institutions, finance and livelihoods.
  • 1 July 2026: VB–G RAM G commencement; 125-day household framework.
  • Enrolment ≠ receipt ≠ adequate support ≠ poverty exit.
  • Exclusion omits eligible people; inclusion admits ineligible recipients.

2-Minute Revision

Trace one household through identification → application → approval → delivery → outcome. At each step identify a possible failure and a correction. Separate current consumption protection from future earning capacity. Retain the date and method of any poverty estimate. A causal claim requires more than a before-and-after improvement because other economic changes may also matter.

5-Minute Revision

A hypothetical programme has 1,000 eligible households, 800 approved and 600 paid on time. Approval coverage is 80%; timely-payment coverage of eligible households is 60%; timely payment among approved households is 75%.

Explain why each percentage answers a different question. Then identify what is still unknown: adequacy, exclusion reasons, delayed receipts and the effect on deprivation. Propose an evaluation that collects those missing facts rather than treating the largest percentage as the programme's success rate.
