Energy Resources — Prelims Strategy
Prelims Strategy
Begin with a classification grid. Put renewable or nonrenewable on one axis and fossil or non-fossil on the other; place uranium carefully. Identify electricity and manufactured hydrogen as carriers, then ask about their source pathways rather than assigning a universal production profile.
Next inspect units. MW describes power, while MWh describes energy over time. Calculate a simple power-times-duration example before interpreting a percentage. Reject statements that silently move from installed electricity capacity to annual generation or to economy-wide energy consumption.
For comparison questions, identify the stated service and time requirement. Natural replenishment does not mean uninterrupted output, and an operational claim does not cover every life-cycle stage. Review wrong options by naming the missing boundary or denominator.
Practise one original efficiency example in which activity rises enough to offset the per-unit saving. This prevents the attractive but unsupported inference that every improvement in intensity necessarily reduces total demand for the resource.
