International Ethics Cases — Definition

Definition
International ethics cases examine choices whose effects and responsibilities cross national boundaries. They may involve humanitarian need, duties to citizens, equality, consent, sovereignty, resource constraints and accountability.
A sound response identifies the decision-maker's role and the facts before applying a principle. An impartial relief agency and a government need not have identical institutional mandates. Ethical reasons can support a recommendation without establishing a legal power under unspecified treaty rules.
The aim is a feasible, justified course of action that recognises competing responsibilities, explains its criteria and remains open to review as evidence changes.
