For Prelims preparation, focus on factual recall of landform types, formation processes, and specific examples. Create visual memory aids for different landform categories - structural (fold mountains, fault-block mountains), erosional (valleys, gorges), and depositional (deltas, alluvial fans).
Memorize key characteristics of geomorphological agents and their associated landforms. Practice identifying landforms from photographs and maps, as UPSC increasingly uses visual questions. Pay special attention to Indian examples - know specific features of Himalayas, Western Ghats, Eastern Ghats, Deccan Plateau, and coastal regions.
Use elimination techniques by understanding process-landform relationships - if a question asks about arid landforms, eliminate options related to glacial or coastal processes. Create comparison charts for theories (Davis vs Penck vs King) and weathering types (physical vs chemical vs biological).
Focus on current affairs connections, particularly natural disasters and their geomorphological aspects.
