International Boundaries — Prelims Strategy
Prelims Strategy
Focus on memorizing exact boundary lengths, neighboring countries sequence, and major crossing points using the PCNBMBS mnemonic (Pakistan-China-Nepal-Bhutan-Myanmar-Bangladesh-Sri Lanka). Create a comprehensive fact sheet covering: (1) Boundary lengths with each country, (2) Major rivers forming boundaries, (3) Important passes and crossing points, (4) Recent agreements and their years, (5) Disputed territories with area coverage.
Pay special attention to recent developments like infrastructure projects, agreements, and border incidents as they frequently appear in current affairs-based questions. Practice elimination techniques by understanding common traps: confusing LoC with IB, mixing up crossing points between countries, and incorrectly attributing boundary principles.
Use map-based learning to visualize boundary locations and practice identifying them without labels. Regular revision of constitutional provisions (Articles 1 and 3) and landmark cases is essential as they often appear in integrated questions combining polity with geography.
