Energy Resources — Revision Notes

Updated 19 Oct 2026

⚡ 30-Second Revision

Revision checked 17 October 2026.

  • Trace resource to service.
  • Non-fossil is broader than renewable.
  • Electricity is a carrier.
  • MW differs from MWh.
  • Intensity × activity gives total use.

2-Minute Revision

Classify replenishment separately from fossil origin. Assess energy resources through conversion, delivery and final use. Capacity measures potential power output, while generation measures actual energy over time. Compare reliability and environmental pressures for the same service and boundary. Efficiency improvements require activity data before total savings can be inferred.

5-Minute Revision

Original exercise: compare two systems supplying a workshop for three hours. One delivers 10 MW throughout; another averages 5 MW. Calculate 30 and 15 MWh respectively. Explain why identical installed ratings would not guarantee equal generation. Extend the comparison to timing, network access and the production pathway. Finish by distinguishing an equipment milestone from verified service delivery and an operational emissions claim from a life-cycle assessment.

Vyyuha Quick Recall

POWER: Primary source; Output actually delivered; Whole-system boundary; Energy versus power; Reliability.
