Various Security Forces and Agencies — Definition
Definition
Security forces and agencies are institutions with different responsibilities for protection, intelligence, investigation, border management and emergency response. Their common involvement in national security does not give them identical legal powers or operational purposes.
In India, the armed forces, Central Armed Police Forces, state police, specialised investigative bodies and intelligence institutions occupy distinct positions within a wider system. Understanding that system means matching a task to its legal mandate and explaining how institutions coordinate.
A uniform, central funding or an armed role alone cannot establish that an organisation is the military, an investigative agency or the authority responsible for every security incident.
