Light and Optics — Mains Strategy
Mains Strategy
Open with the relevant mechanism in one sentence, then use a labelled sketch or a compact numerical example to explain it. For fibre communication, show the higher-index core, lower-index cladding and the condition for total internal reflection. For a lens application, identify the object position and whether the required image is real or virtual before describing the instrument.
The body should connect the mechanism to usefulness and then distinguish it from system performance. Guiding light is not the same as detecting a signal without error; forming an image is not the same as resolving every detail. Mention attenuation, resolution or calibration only where it explains the particular application rather than as a generic list.
A suitable introduction is: “Optical technology applies controlled propagation and interaction of light to transmit information or form measurable images.” Conclude by connecting reliable performance to both the physical principle and the design conditions. Avoid asserting that the ray model explains diffraction or that one familiar lens behaviour applies at every object distance.
