Cell biology is the scientific discipline dedicated to the study of cells – the fundamental building blocks of all living organisms. Imagine a cell as a miniature, self-contained city, bustling with activity, where every component has a specific job to keep the city running.

By studying how healthy cells operate and what goes wrong in diseased cells, scientists can develop new diagnostic tools, therapies, and preventive measures.

For instance, understanding how viruses like SARS-CoV-2 enter and replicate within human cells is critical for developing vaccines and antiviral drugs.
